| College of Philosophy ＆ History Culture |
| College of Philosophy and History Culture was established in January 2007 . It currently consists of the department of philosophy, the department of history ,the department of CPC’s history ,the department of political science ,the department of sociology and the department of culture industries management. There are 3 doctoral included ,2 master degrees of first level included ,18 master degrees of second level included , and 7 specialitis of undergraduate included . Besides , there are two important research centers , including center for studies of MaoZedong thought of XiangTan University sponsored by Ministry of National Education and center for studies of Deng Xiaoping Theory sponsored by Hunan Provincial Party Committee. What’s more ,there are many excellent curriculum, including one provincial first-class courses ,one level of field excellent courses ,one focus on the level of field professionals and three level of field key disciplines. In addition, The college has an excellent teaching and research staff consisting of professors and instructors. At present it has 23 professors, 28 associate professors, 28 doctors and 13 associate doctors, including one teaching member of the steering committee ,three members of Cross-Talent Project ,and so on. |

 Philosophy |
Train senior specialized personnel with systemetic professional knowledge and high Marxism theory accomplishment ， who can be engaged in the management and research work in the organs of Party, government , enterprises , institutions, or social organization.
Main courses ： the basic theory of Marxism Philosophy ， social science ， natural science ， the basic knowledge of thinking science ， western philosophy ， Chinese philosophy ， and so on. |
| History |

Train senior comprehensive specialized personnel with scientific worldview and History, who have a correct understanding of the social and historical issues, have the basic theory and knowledge of history ，grasp the basic clues of Chinese history and the world history ，as well as accept basic training of history research and thinking science. With that, they can be engaged in theoretical research and real work in the administrative institution, or the research institution of higher learning and so on .
Main courses: principles of Marxist philosophy, history of China ,archaeological theory , Chinese historiography , foreign historiography

| CPC’s History |
|
This is a discipline cultivating talents for the CPC. Currently in China , there’re only two universities setting this major during the undergraduate period ,including Chinese People university and Xiangtan university. The students learn professional knowledge of CPC and Party building , learn lessons from Chinese revolutionary and construction ,accept some training to improve their capacity on decision-making and practice. After their graduation ,they can work for the government , cultural and educational undertakings ,press and publications ，heritage Museum archives, research and teaching management and so on.
Main courses: the CPC’s history, the world history , the Chinese history ,the management of party issues and so forth.

| Sociology |
|
Train specialized personnel majoring in sociology who can be fit to the needs of social investigation ， have comprehensive Sociological Theory and knowledge. After graduation, they can be engaged in relevant teaching and research work in the national government departments at all levels , the enterprises and institutions , higher learning and other social organizations.

Cultivate comprehensive talents with knowledge of traditional culture as well as modern conception and the capacity of management, who can make contribution to the effective management of the country culture recourses, contribute to the growth of culture industries and the protection ,exploration of culture heritages. After Graduation, they can work for culture industries ,tourism, entertainment industries and so forth.
Main courses: The ancient Chinese history, the theory of philosophy, the exploration of culture recourses, the theory of management and so on.
